Three Copse Woodland Products

Shows, Demonstrations and Talks

With over 40 years of experience of talks, show and demonstrations, we always give our ordinance an informative experience.

From our practical demonstrations at shows, on everything from besom making to pole Lathe turning and spoon making and leather working we always aim to both entertain and educate the public.

Below is a summary of they kind of things we can bring to an event or talk but if there is something different you need, please get in touch.

Our history

In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s as a family we were often found at local shows with Chris’s spinning and weaving. As well as demonstrating at Butser Ancient Farm and later Little woodham in Gosport

Since 2004 we have been working under the Wesnet Services Ltd and Three Copse Woodland Products banners.

Although our products have changed over the years are dedication to what we do has not.

Shows and Demonstrations

We work as a team, usually with one or two people demonstrating our practical crafts such as pole lathe turning, besom broom making or spoon carving.

For larger shows run over multiple days we can also offer charcoal making demonstrations taking visitors through the whole process from loading to bagging. This gives a very visual centre piece to a show as the kilns when running give off a strong flame but in a totally controlled way.

We also work closely with other local craftsmen including hurdle, rake and shingle makers, at shows throughout Hampshire, as part of Hampshire Coppice Craftsmens Group. With multiple craftspeople demonstrating traditional skills we have filled a 100ft stand at many shows giving our audience an insight into the crafts still practiced throughout the country.

Talks

We also give talks to special interest groups on a range of subjects. These include:
  • Management of ancient woodland
  • Sustainable woodland management
  • Charcoal burning
  • Pole lathe turning (practical demonstration/talk)

If you run a group and would like more information about any of the subjects above feel free to contact us.

We charge around £60 plus expenses for a one-hour talk. As part of the package, we provide a digital projector and screen, meaning we can set up anywhere with a mains electricity supply; from a village hall to a pub. Our pole lathe can be set up in most spaces as it is bungee powered to only need 8ft of head room.

Guided Walks

We can also offer a guided walk around our own Ancient woodland, here in the heart of the Southdown’s national park. Depending on the time of year groups will be able to see a range of flora and fauna as well as gaining an insight into the practical side of woodland management and the countryside.

The walks are generally 1-1.5 hours long and can start from our own gated entrance of the local village. By arrangement we can also hook up with the pub in the village for a post walk cuppa.
