Discover the foundations of sustainable woodland management on this practical introduction to caring for and working within woodland environments. Using examples from our own woodland, this course explores a range of traditional and modern management techniques and the reasons behind them.
Throughout the course we will cover:
Different silvicultural systems and how they are applied
The range of woodland equipment available and where it is best suited
Basic tree safety and safe working practices within the woodland
Ideal for woodland owners, beginners and anyone wanting a better understanding of how woodlands are managed for conservation, timber, wildlife and traditional woodland crafts.
We will also show you the state of the wood after being left unmanaged for some years and how it looks after restoration management. This course is primarily for those with an interest in working woodland, but may also be of interest to those who just walk in woods.
