Three Copse Woodland Products

Milling timber

Since man first learned to make tools, timber has been converted from raw trees to usable products out in the woods. It was only with the advent of the tractor and lorry after the Second World War that the mass transportation of timber from woods to larger sawmills sometimes hundreds of miles way was possible.

Over the last 20-30 years many of the small local saw mills have closed pushed out by the larger mills and cheaper timber from chain stores, as well as the increase of fuel costs meaning that transportation cost can out way the value of the timber.

With this in mind and a push towards reducing woodmiles we decided to go back to the traditional way of milling, out in the woods, but with a modern twist. rather than using a pitsaw we have opted for a Norwood bandsaw mill.
