Three Copse gets branded

Three Copse gets branded

New charcoal bags logo and more

As a business we have never really had a brand as such, or more specifically a proper logo.

While Three Copse is a trading name for Wesnet Services Ltd we have been trading under the name for over 10 years now.

So, we thought it was high time Three Copse was branded or we had a proper logo at least. To be honest this was partly prompted by the decision of Hampshire Coppice Group to retire their bag design – a design that we had been using for over 15 years.

In the last 3 years we had become the biggest user of the bags within the membership and were proud to be able to have a local identity.

Sadly, the costs of updating the design to reflect changes to things like the web address were prohibitive to the Coppice Group as a whole.

But how do the two bags compare?

So, we now have our very own bag design – but how do the bags compare?

Please do listen to the video as it explains a lot about the differences between the two bags but safe to say the main difference is the design on the bags.

Designing the bag

While the really technical bit was carried out by Eco Packaging Ltd we did a basic design for them to work from.

We took the design elements from the HCG bags and updated as required. All this was of course done with the permission of the HCG Committee of which we are part.

As you can see the design on our new bag is smaller than that on the HCG bags. That is mostly due to the different printing techniques employed on the new bags. The old design used a large flat plate printing system whereas the new bags use a drum plate which is limited in size.

Our new logo

Obviously, before we could put a bag design together, we needed a proper logo and identity that was ours and only ours.

Chris set about hand-drawing a tree of life – but why did we choose a tree of life?

Well, as woodland owners in the heart of the South Downs, ash is a massive part of our landscape despite the best efforts of ash dieback disease.

It also encompasses the history of our woodland and the local landscape, which dates back to at least the Bronze age – but more on that in another post.

From the initial hand drawing we digitised the image, and then the hard work began. Kester carried out the digitization of the image which took us a while but we finally got there.

With a bit of work, we were able to add the text and get it positioned as we wanted it. Now we have the base layout we can adjust it as needed for different backgrounds.

So what next for the Three Copse Woodland Products Brand?

Well, our banners are in need of an update so keep an eye out for our new logo coming to a show near you soon.

We also need to have a leather maker’s stamp made so we can share our logo on our leather items.

Our websites and social media need to be updated so watch this space…

No one said this rebranding – or in our case branding – was easy, right?
