Basic tree safety and safe working practices when working in a woodland environment.
The uses of woodland timber and how management decisions influence the products that can be obtained.
Conservation and wildlife considerations, including the importance of managing woodland with its long-term condition in mind.
The course provides an introduction to the choices involved in managing woodland for conservation, timber production, wildlife and traditional woodland crafts.
Our own ancient woodland provides a practical setting for exploring the effects of different woodland management approaches.
During the course, we will look at areas that have been left unmanaged and compare them with areas where restoration work has taken place. These real examples help demonstrate how thoughtful management can support woodland recovery while providing useful timber and maintaining valuable wildlife habitats.
All of our woodland courses take place in our own ancient woodland right here in the heart of the South Downs, Hampshire Nr Clanfield
The course lasts around 7 hours which will allow us to explore our ancient woodland and the different silvicultural systems withing in it.
Tea and coffee are provided throughout the course. Other food is not included, although we can arrange a barbecue if requested in advance.
There are a number of local hotels and bed and breakfast establishments in the area. We can provide details on request.
