Tree Identification and Uses

Being able to identify the different tree species present in a woodland or other site is a key skill in being able to manage that site or at least understand what you are seeing.


This Tree Identification and uses course is aimed at those working in woodland, Small woodland owners, and for anyone wanting to learn more about what they see on their woodland walks.

Depending on the time of year this course will include things such as:

Identify trees in winter

    • use clues such as fallen leaves and discuss their
    • forestry,
    • craft
    • ecological uses.
    • pests and diseases

 

 

OR

 Identify trees in Summer using:

  • The leaves and fruits as well as the form of the trees
  • discuss their forestry,
  • craft
  • ecological uses.
  • pests and diseases

Food and refreshments

There will be an ample supply of tea/coffee on tap but no other food is provided, we can of course set up the bbq if requested.

Unless otherwise stated all of our woodland courses are run in our own woodland in the heart of the Southdowns between Petersfield and Portsmouth just off the A3 , A3m and  A272.

Accommodation

There are a good number of local hotels and b and b’s in the area for which we can give you detail on application.
